As an 18 year old and first time voter, I would like to let the readers know my opinion on the race for Governor.
I proudly support Pat McCrory. Mayor McCrory brings about the leadership and the change in Raleigh that we so desperately need. He will stand up for all citizens of North Carolina by lowering taxes to increase job production, cease wasteful government spending, finding new energy resources, and investing in education. Pat McCrory represents the change of status quo that our state desperately needs.
Bev Perdue, who back in the primary pledged to us that she was going to run a “positive campaign”, has run negative attack ads to sway voters away from Pat McCrory. She claims that he is a “danger to the middle class” because he does not believe in “raising the minimum wage”, and he “supports vouchers…taking $900 million away from public education”. Pat McCrory does oppose the minimum wage because it causes small businesses to cut jobs in order to foot the pay raise. Should we raise the minimum wage or should we retain jobs? Pat McCrory does support vouchers, but not for every public school student in North Carolina like her ad claims. He believes in giving vouchers to students that have special needs such as children with autism and other forms of mental impairments so that they have equal opportunity as every other child in this state. Shouldn’t we let the parents of special needs children make a decision where their child goes to school?
And Pat McCrory is a danger to the middle class? Bev Perdue, in a debate with WRAL-TV in Raleigh, claimed that McCrory’s idea for offering more vocational training in high schools and community colleges “harkens back to the old low expectations of North Carolina”. Pat McCrory realizes that not every student in North Carolina is meant to go to a four-year university. McCrory plans to increase vocational training in high schools and community colleges to prepare students for their desired occupations to make them successful.
When speaking about the job losses in North Carolina, Perdue claimed that we are “fundamentally healthy and on the right track”. Really? August marked the eighth consecutive month of job losses in this state. The August unemployment rate of 6.9 percent marked the highest jobless rate since January 2002, one year after Perdue was sworn-in as our Lieutenant Governor. When was the last time Gov. Easley or Lt. Gov. Perdue visited the people Stokes County? It seems to me that they are the ones out of touch with the middle class and the people of this county.
When Pat McCrory brought up how the “education” lottery was passed at a recent debate at the SAS Institute in Cary, Bev Perdue claimed that she has never been a part of the state legislature, since elected Lieutenant Governor. Obviously she hasn’t been doing her job then because the Lieutenant Governor presides over the state senate and she breaks the tie votes, which she did for the lottery bill. It’s time for Bev Perdue to go back to civics class.
The one thing that really bothers me about Bev Perdue is her claim that she has been endorsed by “North Carolina Teachers”, as if all teachers said Bev Perdue is their candidate of choice. In reality, she was endorsed by the NCAE, a lobbying group which has selective membership. In her ads she claims that she has been in the classroom as a teacher and truly understands the problems facing our schools. She was a teacher for three years, is that enough experience? Also in her misleading ads, she claims that she raised teacher salaries. Well I guess we don’t have to worry about that issue anymore because Bev Perdue already fixed the problem, right?
This is not a personal attack against Bev Perdue. What I intend is for everyone to know the real truth behind Bev Perdue and her negative ads. Let’s change the culture of corruption in Raleigh by electing Pat McCrory our next governor.

Chairman, West Stokes TARS 2006-2008
Not exactly the type of entry you would find on a Republican blog, but who do you think will be the best Democratic Presidential candidate in 2008, Hillary Rodham Clinton or Barack Hussein Obama? My opinion, neither would make a good president. Both will raise taxes on the middle and higher classes, both will burden the tax payers with "free" universal healthcare, both will take are civil liberties away like our 2nd Amendment rights, and both will cut spending on the millitary, even though we face a terrible crisis in the Middle East and with terrorists organizations.
But I will say, if I were an insane Democrat (lol), I would throw my support to Hillary. Why? Simple, she won't win. Another reason is that Barack Hussein Obama (and that really is his middle name) is the one person that I do NOT want to see on 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. Obama is only popular simply because of a politcal equation, OPRAH + LIBERAL MEDIA + UNEDUCATED VOTERS = MONEY = THE WHITE HOUSE.
If uneducated voters would educate themselves, they would realize that Obama would be the WORST person to serve as president. One, HE HAS NO EXPERIENCE. He has only been a US Senator for 3 years and he was running for president during his first year....uuuhhh, I think you might need a little bit more experience to be the commander-in-chief and the leader of the free world. And what are his legislative accomplishments in the past 3 years, uuuhh, nothing. He has accomplished NOTHING. While he was a state senator in Illinois, he didn't even vote on important pieces of legislation. Looking up his record in the Illinois State Senate, about 60% of votes for Barack Obama are listed as "present" not yes or no, that is SORRY. Pretty much that means he voted maybe on everything. Whats going to happen when somebody sends a nuclear missile at the US, whats he going to do about it. "Mr. President, do you want to attack the missile before it kills all of human kind in North America?" The last thing I want my president to say is "I don't know, maybe?"
What if Barack Obama was just another white candidate running for president? Don't get me wrong, I am not making a racial comment because I don't think race or gender should play a role (Condi Rice for President is fine with me), but if he were white, would he have the same amount of attention? The answer is obviously no. It would just be another pretty boy John Edwards running for president. And another thing, if I were a female, of any race, I would be upset with Oprah Winfrey. Her TV show claims to be a show for women and to talk about women's issues, but yet, we have a viable female candidate for president but instead of endorsing her she is endorsing the African-American candidate. Does this make since? Oprah obviously cares more about the issues of her race more than the issues of her gender. Genders are in ALL races, being African-American is only one race.
So if you are naive and you vote Democratic instead of being intellegent and voting Republican, than vote for Hillary Clinton NOT Barack Obama if you really care about this country. If you think the country is bad off now, wait until Obama's inexperience takes the country even further into the wrong direction.
If you care about America, vote for the Republican nominee in November (John McCain). Your country depends on it! Tell me your opinions by posting a comment......
